The public relations staff from Toronto General Hospital sent us more pictures from inside the operating room during my surgery. The first one is of two of my heros, Dr. Cusimano on the left and Dr. Rao on the right. Both working very hard! The second is a different angle of the flabby mess-of-a-heart that was thankfully taken out of me. It's amazing that the muss was actually keeping me alive!

I love the pictures. WOW If I hadn't known that was a heart, I never would have guessed that's what it was. We met with the transplant surgeon last week and I asked him if we could get pictures of my husband's heart to show my daughter. She's fascinated by all this, but because her dad's heart is "weird" she really wants to see what it looks like. He was born with the 2 main arteries reversed, so now his heart actually works backwards.
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable! I would love to see that picture too!
ReplyDeleteThat heart was healthy when WE gave it to you! I still love that heart -it gave you an amazing 27 years! Now the new one will give you lots more!!! And, yes, I will love it too!! (already do!)
ReplyDeleteCusimano is amazing! Such a phenomenal doctor with such graceful bedside manner! You, my brother & dad are soooo lucky to have had him : )
